Following the success of Santa Fe Couty's inaugural Wildfire Mitigation and Preparedness Community Education Day in March—where over a hundred residents gathered to learn how to reduce wildfire risk—Santa Fe County is excited to announce a new series of Wildfire Mitigation Community Education Days throughout May and June 2025.
These events are part of the County’s ongoing commitment to empower residents with the knowledge and tools needed to protect their homes, families, and neighborhoods from wildfire threats.
Each event will feature presentations and one-on-one conversations with experts from the Santa Fe County Fire Department, wildland firefighters, the Office of Emergency Management, and additional public safety and sustainability partners.
Topics will include:
Creating defensible space around your home
Signing up for emergency alerts and Smart 9-1-1
Evacuation planning
Sustainable firescaping techniques
Volunteer opportunities within your local fire district
