I am now working with a new historian in the Historic Preservation Division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. We have submitted our proposed marker's language and other information that he wanted. I received this from him on July 19:

Dear Lynn Pickard,

I hope this email finds you well!

I wanted to give you a quick update on the progress of your marker proposal. The Historic Preservation Division has determined that Tesuque pueblo has consultation rights for the proposed Tesuque village marker under the State Tribal Sovereignty Act, which sets up a 45-day period for discussions with the tribal historic preservation office. They are typically inundated with similar requests for consultation and so this is not typically a very quick process; as such, it is unlikely that the marker text will be ready for consideration at the August CPRC meeting and will be delayed until the October meeting. We’re working through all the steps we’re legally required to and it’s a slow process, but I just wanted to let you know as things move forward. I’ll give you another update when I know more.

All best,

Rob Christensen, Ph.D Historian
